📌 Concept 6: Status and Role

📌 Concept 6: Status and Role

Short Note (English)

Status refers to the social position a person occupies within a group or society, such as teacher, student, parent, or doctor. It may be ascribed (by birth, e.g., caste, gender) or achieved (through effort, e.g., profession, education).

Role is the expected pattern of behavior attached to a particular status. For example, a teacher (status) is expected to teach, guide, and evaluate students (roles). Status and role are two sides of the same coin—status is the position, role is the function.
